These terms can be used interchangeably during the end-of-life process (EOL). Both are meant to ensure that your pet remains comfortable and experiences a dignified or "good death". There are a few differences between the two that will be explained below, if you have further questions about palliative care and/or hospice care for your pet(s) please reach out. Serene Tails Pet Care would be happy to consult with you and ensure you and your pet your pet's journey are as comfortable as possible.

Palliative Care: Primary goal is to manage pain effectively, alleviate symptoms and extend quality of life (QOL) as long as possible. This may include various methods including but not limited to pain management, acupuncture, laser therapy, heat therapy and multiple home care remedies.
Hospice Care: Primarily focuses on the management of the dying process. This may come into play when palliative care has reached its limits and is no longer effective. The goal is to ensure your pet experiences a dignified death; peaceful, humane and as pain-free as possible. This may include pain management, and/or humane euthanasia if undue suffering occurs.
